About this deal

This was definitely a missed opportunity, because deleted scenes have been one of the most desired elements of owning physical media. A New Reign (HD; 3:09) is another brief piece featuring interviews with showrunners Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan J.

Even in the case of the exclusive featurettes, they feel more like a remixing of the other featurettes than something unique unto itself. However, if you don't have your display setup correctly, your player has black crush (Oppo Players) or your TV has black crush, then good luck. We tested in cinema mode on two different TV screens, and both were on the dark side even in daylight scenes.

finesse in production design (no errant coffee cups that I noticed) and costuming, if occasionally less than completely convincing CGI. part of Daemon (there's some rather interesting subtext with regard to this uncle and niece which adds to the drama). After checking some of the online reviews, it seems this is a common issue for a lot of people who bought the special metal case edition, failures on Disc 3.

The caves are very dark but the outside is brightly lit by the dragon Caraxes’ fire breath riden by Daemon. There’s some great depth at what they were looking for in terms of casting, how to differentiate it from Game of Thrones and the filming locations, including the construction of the Red Keep which is just one giant set with multiple levels and rooms, showing Rhaenyra’s ascent to the Queen’s room in episode six wasn’t achieved through some visual trickery, but by actually following Emma D’Arcy from one room in the set to another. If the encoding software doesn't see the grain and only sees a plane background (for example), it will most likely use the least amount of bit-rate possible and this can cause visible artifacts. The music by Ramin Djawadi is top notch as always, reusing themes from the original show just in the right amount while starting to introduce all the new themes and leitmotifs. After rewatching all the special features on HBO Max (available since the episodes aired back in September and October) and watching everything on the DVD, I can safely there's nothing new being offered.

There are bonus features on both the 4k Blu-rays and 1080p Blu-rays, although only on discs one and two. And, even in the blackest of black scenes the image is grainy but does not show any banding in gradients. Now, with schemes hatched on both sides - and the kingdom in the balance - viewers will see the house that dragons built and learn how they tore it all down. Most of the video is reference-quality 4k, although there are scenes when low light renders a flat and grainy image (visible also in digital formats). For those interested in the special features, save yourself the money and simply hop onto HBO Max, open up each episode, and scroll to the bottom of the landing page for each episode.

Not being familiar with what source material there is on this occasion does mean I found myself wanting to know how it would turn out. of HDR and/or Dolby Vision, and some of the shrouded sequences in interior scenes in particular have at least marginally improved shadow definition. If you're still watching in vivid mode, and don't know how to set up your display, I strongly recommend that you at least get your TV in the correct mode, and get your black levels, contrast, and color setup properly.

The shot of the Crabfeeder at 4:20 (Episode 3) from within the cave is a good indication of what HDR can do to expand color levels and contrast range. As the family splits into two factions, each side has their own valid points for what they do, making the line between good and evil murkier and the cast deliver incredibly well on these layered performances. I'm reviewing this on an LGC9 OLED, 77-inch professionally calibrated TV, and it makes a huge difference. With that said, they have taken great care to light rooms as well as they can, so people are still visible. Here’s a review of the series on 4k Blu-ray Disc, offering the highest resolution available in home media.
