About this deal

The plain variety is manufactured at Tollcross factory in Glasgow, and the chocolate variety is made at the Harlesden factory in north-west London. The biscuit is available in many varieties, including dark chocolate, chocolate orange, and Hobnob bars. In Italy they are now marketed as a variety of digestive biscuits, having previously been known as Suncrok. Tried this with buckwheat flour and tapioca starch – they spread a LOT, but were still delicious, and the good news is, now I know how to make gluten free florentines 🙂 I am committed to making these gluten free as pictured…I am willing to bake (and eat! It has since been brought back, but slightly changed by adding "hob" to the beginning of the last word.

I have had this recipe on my to-do list for some time…… and as today it is snowing here in Spain I thought I would give it a try. They were also released in Canada in November 2012, made available in Wal-Mart's British modular section in their food aisles. Channel 4's Secret World of Biscuits programme claims that the name comes from the two words " hob" (suggesting home-cooked on a stove) and "knobbly" referencing the texture. I came across a picture of a hobnob while browsing on Instagram and it hit me that I’ve never tried to recreate them.

Having my first attempt ending in the bin, I pulled myself back together and went for it a second time. I make a couple of bigger ones for our granddaughter to take for snack at school as it makes a change from fruit. And I just happen to have all the ingredients in my cupboard, barring the oat flour but I can grind some oats to make some. Repeat with the remaining dough, leaving a few centimetres between each ball as they will flatten and spread as they bake. McVitie's Milk Chocolate Hobnobs are golden-baked to perfection, to create the moreishly crunchy, oaty biscuit.

This is the perfect chocolate biscuit with the right amount of crunch, grit and a lovely layer of chocolate. With one tablespoon of the golden syrup replaced with honey, two packet of dark chocolate chips, one of milk chocolate chips and a decent handful of chopped mixed nuts. Hello, I don’t know if you are ever going to read this but I just wanted to thank you for this delightful recipe for my new favorite biscuit: Hobnob. These are lovely oaty biscuits but a little too sweet for me which is why I prefer the dark chocolate hobnobs. Also, the one time I was able to see the video, it showed cookies that looked like they were put down with a scoop before they were flattened.
