This is done to set the dark tone of the series, bombarding you with shocking and upsetting content to make sure you know what you’re getting into before delving back to the beginning. A spin-off novel, titled Berserk: The Flame Dragon Knight ( ベルセルク 炎竜の騎士, Beruseruku Enryū no Kishi ), written by Makoto Fukami with illustrations by Kentaro Miura, was released on June 23, 2017. The Berserk Deluxe Editions look amazing and are of high quality, and as of now, they are my favorite special edition manga release to come out in recent years. While the battles and action sequences in Berserk are amazing, where it truly shines are its quiet moments of vulnerability where we get to see the most raw, heart-wrenching and introspective emotions of the severely damaged cast of protagonists. both directed by Osamu Dezaki, inspired him to read The Rose of Versailles manga and the works of Keiko Takemiya, mainly Kaze to Ki no Uta.

Miura inspired me as well and I regard him for being the person who taught me just how influential, meaningful and life changing art and literature can be when I first read his series over a decade ago. In 2002, Kentarou Miura received the second place in the Osamu Tezuka Culture Award of Excellence for Berserk. At this pace, it will take a little over two years for the Deluxe Editions to catch up to the individual volumes.

Berserk received an Excellence Award of Hakusensha's Denshi Shoseki Taishō ( E-Book Award) in 2015, which went to the publisher's best-selling digital manga from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2015; [214] it won the same award in its 2021 edition, which went for the publisher's best-selling digital manga from January 1 to December 31, 2021.
