About this deal

I believe the passage from home to school is the second biggest trauma of childhood; the first is, of course, being born.

Amanda Hilburn is an artist who works primarily in acrylics, but also enjoys mixed media and watercolors inspired by the simple, stunning, artistry of nature; animals, flowers, water and more. It’s like the children’s game of looking at a cloud and seeing an image, say, of a sheep, in the shape of the cloud. This is a delightful delicious book - full of coloured illustrations and a wonderful discussion about his life.Suddenly, he went from a glum mood, to talking a million miles a minute about the vision he had in mind for a tree. Each year the event honors artists and authors who have made an impact in the genre of picture books. Eric Carle Eric Carle is the author and illustrator of over seventy picture books for young children. Carle first drew his characters on a piece of tracing paper, and then each part of the character was cut out of different colored papers using a blade, such as an X-acto knife. Leo Lionni, and Richard Buckley, Carle wrote many of his own books over several decades, including The Tiny Seed (1970), The Grouchy Ladybug (1977), Let's Paint a Rainbow (1982), and Eric Carle's Book of Many Things (2019).

It is a member of Museums10 [1] and is adjacent to the campus of Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. We talked about SHAPES – organic: like a butterfly, a leaf, a flower etc, and geometric like squares and triangles. The Art Studio at the Museum is open to visitors of all ages during regular Museum hours and supports the aims of the Museum by encouraging making, appreciating, and thinking about art. It is important to invest time to collect materials to ensure a sufficient supply is available on hand. Highlights include selections from The Very Hungry Caterpillar (1969), The Very Quiet Cricket (1990), Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me (1986), and Draw Me a Star (1992).His museum, thoughtfully curated with exhibits, a picture book library, an art studio, and more, is a place where the world of art and world of storytelling collide. Eric Carle was far more than an author and illustrator of children's books, as I came to appreciate by making this purchase. Many of his books have an added dimension - die-cut pages, twinkling lights as in The Very Lonely Firefly , even the lifelike sound of a cricket's song as in The Very Quiet Cricket - giving them a playful quality: a toy that can be read, a book that can be touched.
